Katherine
mother of almost 3 year old Madison with a diagnosis of spastic diaplegia cerebral palsy
I became interested in the Anat Baniel Method because of its connection with movement and neuroplasticity.
Having heard from other families who have valued Judy Cheng’s approach in working with their young children, her incorporating play, discovery plus respect for their child’s age, I decided to give it a try.
Before we started working with Judy, Madison’s only position of sitting independently was “W” sit.
Since our 3 Introductory sessions, Madison is experimenting with side sitting, high kneel and crossed leg sitting. The quality of her crawling has improved and she is taking more independent steps. I was surprised with how well this therapy has “unlocked” Madison’s pelvis and hips.
As a parent, I now feel more educated around other options for directing her movements during play. Madison is very proud of her walking. Our family has also observed a difference in her independence and confidence in the last few weeks and they are thrilled!
Judy is very knowledgeable and she understands the restrictions Cerebral Palsy has on Madison’s body. Her therapy creates positive outcomes in Madison’s quality of movement. She also educates me, as a parent, as to how I can incorporate ideas at home.
It is well worth the time and money to commit to this therapy for Madison!
