Jodi P.

mother of 6 year old boy with Sensory Processing Disorder

Since finding out that my son’s quirky behavior had a name, ‘Sensory Processing Disorder’, I have been looking for something to help him.

He wasn’t comfortable in his own skin. Clothes bothered him and playing tag was a living nightmare for him. He was fearful of the mere idea of riding a two wheeler and was even afraid of throwing a ball because when he dropped it, it was the end of the world. He was always clumsy and uncoordinated but we thought there was no help for that. We sought occupational therapy for his SPD and chiropractic care which helped a little with his sensitivities.

Then I found out about the Anat Baniel Method. I raced out to buy her new book and immediately looked for a practitioner in the GTA. Luckily I found Judy Cheng. She responded to my email very quickly and fit our son into her schedule for the initial 3 sessions. We saw immediate improvement. Even though Judy didn’t promise anything I knew by the way she connected with my son, we had found the help we had been searching for.

We booked more sessions the following week and the results have been amazing. He is stronger, more coordinated and taking risks. He bounces a ball freely and doesn’t get upset when he drops it. He laughs! He is more patient and his story telling has improved. He listens better as well.

No matter what he is doing, I call his name or talk to him and he responds. At school his teacher says he is working more efficiently and he hasn’t been getting upset if he makes a mistake. He quickly gets dressed to go outside and play in the snow which is something we’d normally have to bribe him to do.

We went to Judy for help and ended up with a happier and confident son who is ready to take on challenges. The weight of the world has been lifted off his shoulders. He even eats and sleeps better!

Judy has not only helped our son, she has helped our family.
