mother of 2 year old Henry with a diagnosis of DiGeorge Syndrome
After reading “The Brains Way of Healing” by Norman Doidge, I was very intrigued by the Feldenkrais and Anat Baniel Methods. Also, I was not completely satisfied with his standard physical therapy.
Before we started working with Judy, Henry ignored his left hand and had trouble with sitting in any other positions besides the “W” sit. It has only been a few days with this new therapy, but I feel he is getting more comfortable in his side-sit with assistance. He is also playing and opening his left hand a bit more. Henry responds very well to the new ways we are playing with him as suggested by Judy.
I’m surprised at how ‘simple’ this method is. I feel like all other therapies are asking too much too fast. It was very refreshing and relieving to hear Judy explain the basics Henry needed to work on, and to stop thinking about the more advanced things he was yet unable to do. I feel less defeated and more motivated to work on the selected few fundamentals.
I would encourage other parents to give this method a try. It has given us a clear path and an achievable plan!
